Alfonso Reyes Ochoa (b. May 17 1889, Monterrey, Mexico–d. Dec. 27, 1959, Mexico City, Mexico) was a Mexican writer, philosopher and diplomat. His father, Bernardo Reyes, served as governor of Nuevo León and the Secretary of War and Navy. Along with many other young intellectuals, Reyes founded the Ateneo de la Juventud to promote new cultural and aesthetic ideals and educational reform in Mexico in 1909.
